Pocomoke Advances To Regional Championship

SALISBURY, MD – The Pocomoke Warriors Boys’ Basketball team advanced to the regional championship game Saturday night after they defeated Washington 81-66. The win improving the Warriors record to 18-3. pocomoke

The teams entered into an early battle Saturday night, with neither team holding the advantage. The Warriors’s Dajour Mills got into the Jaguars defensively, forcing several turnovers and hitting the open court for scores. At half Pocomoke took a 39-35 lead.

The teams continue to exchange buckets as Skaruk Cottman would find his groove, hitting on a couple mid range jumpers. Headed to the 4th, Pocomoke still held onto their 53-50 lead. Within the first few minutes of the 4th, Jaguars; Deshawn Parks, Marc Jones and Jermir Jones all would pick up their 4th fouls.

The Warriors continued to attack the Jaguars, looking to draw their 5th and final fouls. Washington found themselves back 6 points, but drew two technical fouls and an ejection to the jaguars Parks from the game. Mills would step to the line and connect on 4 of his 6 free throws giving Pocomoke a double digit lead. Washington was never able to over come the deficit.  The game ended with a Warriors 81-66 victory.

The Warriors will be taking on Joppatowne who will host Pocomoke at 6 p.m. tonight in the Region 1A East final.
